“We have with big curiosity been looking at the Millennials, the blooming youth of today, who with a great excess play with the borders between the masculine and feminine world. They challenge the conventional conceptions of what is actually possible in fashion and what defines the feminine and masculine.
This youth-full bloom of new norms creates a strong, playful and edgy mood. The Zeitgeist tells us that the ugly is beautiful and the raw is cool. Everything is allowed and this creates new standards and rules with a general acknowledgement of just being who you are. In other words: nothing is forbidden. Inspired by new norms that flourish’s, we have called our AW18 collection Blast of Blooms”
Helle Hestehave & Rikke Baumgarten, Creative Directors.
Inspired by what happens when you dissolve the boundaries on what defines the feminine and masculine universe, Baum und Pferdgarten has set the tone for the Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. Creative Directors Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten have been obsessed with the new blooming youth, where women are wearing men’s silhouettes but still maintaining the expression of being cool and feminine. Shape-wise, they have been inspired by the style of late 80’ies and the concept of “Working Girl” – a time where women broke through the masculine dominated business world wearing broad shouldered suits and voluminous silk-shirts.
The 80’s silhouettes mixed with the mentality of today’s blooming youth, the Baum und Pferdgarten Autumn/Winter 2018 collection is a mix of contrasts and colours. Sharp Houndstooth patterns meet floaty, floral shapes in eclectic colours and variations.
Key looks include silk shirts with frills in bright pink styled with soft corduroy trousers in deep red and a classic camel wool coat – a strong reference to the 80s mixing both feminine and masculine shapes. Brushed wool knits in pink mélange, golden vivid velvet pieces, glittering dreamy blue viscose and strong outerwear contribute to a richer look. Tracksuits in blue and green give a young and sporty reference creating a look balancing between serious and kitsch.
The feather feeling print dictates the bright pinks and purples, deep red, pastel blue and strong greens are the core of the collection. Classic dots, tarten print and checks add a bold and exclusive feeling to the collection.
The collection will be in store and online from July 2018.
